BYRON BAY IMAGES
Cavvanbah, meaning "meeting place" is Byron Bay's original name, given by the local Arakwal Aboriginal people. Luitenant James Cook called the town Byron Bay after Naval officer John Byron, circumnavigator of the world and grandfather of the poet Lord Byron. Cavvanbah, Byron Bay is a relaxed town where the locals battle to keep it's unique feel, with an estimated 1.5million tourists arriving every year. With endless white beaches and reliable surf breaks, the hinterland, and surrounding towns, there is plenty to keep visitors occupied. Byron Bay is one of many beautiful beaches in Australia.
